Since studying under the MacArthur-winning art critic Dave Hickey and the novelists John McNally and Doug Unger, I’ve had a lot of adventures. That’s the thing about writing: It can take you wherever you want.
Once, before “Thrift Shop” existed, I profiled this kid named Macklemore and his sidekick Ryan Lewis. Another time, I got trapped in Sao Paulo with a good-hearted stranger. More recently, I wrote the script for and helped concept Delta’s historic “Big Thank You” live stream. Prior to that, I concepted, wrote, and coordinated the posting of real-time social media and digital content for the richest fight in history: Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao.
My varied background has allowed me to become something of a creative hybrid. I’ve worked with graphic designers, video producers, social media directors, editors, and advertisers. Bottom line: Whether it’s a blog post, a documentary, or a Twitter campaign, I’m your man for writing content for fill-in-the-blank.
In my spare time, I train Krav Maga and chip away at two personal projects: a documentary about the pioneering New Journalist Grover Lewis and a memoir about my experiences covering Vegas clubland during the pre-recession boom. The former will make my mother proud; the latter, well, it’s a close a call.
